DWIGHT THOMAS, ORGANIST

Dwight Thomas, featuring the Mighty Wurlitzer Theater Pipe Organ Dwight Thomas is a native of Marysville, Ohio. He moves to Indianapolis where he began to study piano at an early age. He made his theatre organ debut at age 17 when he joined the organ staff at the Paramount Music Palace in Indianapolis, studying with the famed organist/teacher John Ferguson, who coached him toward winning the title "National Young Organist Competition" given by the American Theater Organ Society in 1986.

Dwight became increasingly involved as an organist and conductor, serving several ecclesiastical institutions in Indianapolis, along with teaching organ at both Christian Theological Seminary and Butler University. He has played major theater organ and classical organ installations across the U.S. and in the U.K. He has been involved with several recordings as an organist. His last recording was The All American Music of Irving Berlin, which was selected by TIME magazine as "One of the top 10 recordings of 1990."
